JESSE - The activities of some youths, government called militants, in Jesse community in Delta State is assuming another dimension as the incessant vandalisation of oil installation and kidnapping of expatriates in the oil rich region is now on the rise.
To this end the police and Joint Military Taskforce in the Niger Delta Region has declared wanted, three persons in connection with the recent vandalisation of pipelines and the kidnapping of 5 persons.
The wanted persons are Omare Joseph, Ewoma Ajiri, and Dafe Stephenson.
They are wanted to explain their level of involvement in those crimes.
According to the Military Taskforce spokesman in the area, they vandalise a pipeline that supplies petroleum products to about three neighbouring states of Edo, Ondo and Ogun State.
The Taskforce spokesman also said that the problems of Jesse and other neighbouring communities in the region dated back to when the first major pipeline vandalisation in the country occurred in Jesse community that led to the death of about 1000 people.
Some of the youths that were fingered by the government and declared wanted, like Osita Ekatare, Victor Erharuyi, Dominic Mordi, Jegbefume Iyere and other youths have not been seen since the 1999 incident.
The incessant activities of these youth in the community has crippled economic and social activities in the region.
Some of the youths who spoke to the newsmen said that the police and the Joint Military Taskforce are economical with the truth as the occupational force (Joint Taskforce) have been permanently stationed in Jesse, killing most of the youths all in the name of looking for militants and raping young girls in the community.
A reliably source also told the Nigerian Observer that security agencies have been pointing accusing fingers at Victor Erharuyi who they alleged was one of the ring leaders that masterminded the 1999 incident.
Victor Erharuyi, Dominic Mordi, Osita Ekatare and Jegbefume Iyere have also be fingered to be behind about five other cases that had happened in recent times.
The source also told us that the security personnels just want to rope these people into what they know nothing about even though they have not be seen since the 1999 incident.
Meanwhile, some persons have been arrested in connection with this latest incident and they are now detained and are helping the security agencies in their investigation.
They also promise a handsome reward for anybody that could bring any information leading to the arrest of Omare Joseph, Ewoma Ajiri and Dafe Stephenson.
Just as they also want information of the whereabouts of Victor Erharuyi, Dominic Mordi, Osita Ekatare and Jegbefume Iyere who they alleged are the ring leaders of Jesse youth, though at large, but are still active with the community.
As at the time of writing this report, the whereabout of Omare Joseph, Ewoma Ajiri and Dafe Stephenson is still unknown.
They might have fled for their dear lives as they do not want to died like some of their colleagues in detention.
