ABUJA - The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) on Sunday in Abuja opened bid for the construction of an examination hall.
Dr Harold Demuren, the Director-General of NCAA, who declared the exercise open, said the project was conceived for Lagos and Abuja airports.
Demuren, who was represented by Mrs. Elemaya Ebilah, the Director of Finance and Administration, said the hall would be equipped with computers, internet as well as other facilities.
“The hall is meant for the examination of cabin crew as well as staff and personnel in the aviation industry.
“Safety is our watch word, so bearing that in mind, all our equipment are very sensitive to ensure transparency,” he said.
He told the bidders that the Agency would be thorough in the bid process by observing all technical details and urged them to be patient.
“In a process like this, it is not the lowest or highest bidder that is the best. If you do not get the contract now, it does not mean you will not get it in future.
“So many things come to play, but we assure you that we are going to do our best to ensure that we finish the evaluation within the two weeks time frame,” he said.
Speaking earlier, Alhaji Ahmed Diyajo, the Procurement Officer for NCAA, said the bid process was mandatory in the award of federal government contracts.
“ This process is to ensure transparency and fair competition. It is a due process guideline,” he added.
Responding on behalf of the bidders, Mr. Emmanuel Ohameze, commended the NCAA for its openness and transparency.
Seven companies are bidding for the project.
