Creation of N-Delta Ministry: Edo PDP Dep Chairman hails Yar’Adua’s govt

By CLIFFORD AGBAJOR

BENIN CITY – The Yar’Adua-led administration, has been commended by the Deputy Chairman of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Edo State, Chief Clement Ben Edo-Osagie, for creating the Niger-Delta Ministry.

He made the commendation while speaking with The NIGERIAN OBSERVER in Benin City yesterday.

Chief Ben Edo-Osagie averred that the creation of the Ministry to specifically redress the pathetic state of infrastructural development in the area, in spite of its (Niger-Delta) enormous contribution to the survival of the nation’s economy, is a remarkable and laudable step, that would better the lots of the inhabitants of the oil-rich region.

He further remarked that the decision of the President to create a Ministry that would be saddled with the responsibility of improving the economic and socio-political lives of those living in the area, really showed that he (Yar ’Adua) was prepared to meet the yearnings and aspiration of the people.

The deputy chairman however, appealed to the President to ensure that only competent hands that would be dedicated and committed to developing the area were given the opportunity to serve in the ministry, stressing that those that would man the ministry should be people with vision and mission that would avoid all forms of corruptions, so that the aim of creating the ministry which is to bring development to the door-step of the people, is achieved.

On the decision of the federal government to build more refineries in the country, Chief Ben Edo-Osagie, reasoned that to ensure effective running of refineries the federal government should put necessary measure in place that would create conducive atmosphere for private sector to play a leading role in that area of the nation’s economy, as the private sector would be more efficient in running refinery in the country than the public sector.
