Oredo LG community clamours for separate local govt area

BENIN CITY – The people of Oredo Local Government Area have re-echoed their clamour for its Ward 2, comprising the GRA, Ogba, Oko and forty-seven other villages, to be confirmed as a separate local government area.

Oredo Local Government Council Chairman, Hon. Mike Nosa-Ehima, underscored this clamour while playing host to the executive members of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP of Oredo Ward 2, who were on a courtesy visit to the council secretariat.

Hon. Nosa-Ehima observed that because of its size and rural nature, many people had the misconception that Oredo Ward 2 was not part of Oredo Local Government Area, but stressed that his administration was passionate about developing the area, hence its concentration of projects in the locality.

The council boss, who built a health centre, a Skills Acquisition Centre, a market and a model Primary School and graded a number of roads in Oredo Ward 2 during his first tenure as council chairman between 1999 and 2002, told his visitors that in the first six months of his present

administration he had equally graded roads and built four additional health centres in Ward 2 alone.

Hon. Nosa-Ehima noted that in terms of landmass, natural resources and economic viability, Oredo Ward 2 possessed the criteria and was qualified to enjoy the status of a local government area.

The council chairman commended the party executive and leaders of Oredo Ward 2 for their commitment and genuine drive to attract government presence in the locality and assured them that his administration was committed to positively impact on the lives of the people in the local government.

Earlier, the executive members, Oredo Ward 2, Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in their speech delivered by Barrister Agbons Osawaru, urged the council chairman to come to the aid of the people in the areas of rural electrification, drainage construction, employment creation and empowerment of farmers, youths and women.
