Oil War: Clark Calls For Cease-Fire

By BETTY IDIALU

WARRI- A fore most Ijaw national leader Chief Edward Clark has called on the Federal Government and the militants in the Niger-Delta region to cease fire between now and December, 2008 to give room for meaningful and useful dialogue.

Chief E.K Clark while speaking at a press conference in his home town in Kiagbodo, Ughelli South Local Government area of Delta State, expressed disappointment over the recent clash between the militants and the Joint Task Force (JTF).

According to him, for the military to have launched an attack on the militants despite the present Administration’s efforts in finding a lasting solution to the crisis in the Niger-Delta is very worrisome.

It would be recalled that the Joint Task Force (JTF) code named “Operation Restore Hope” launched a massive attack on militants last Saturday, leaving scores dead.
