Pregnant Woman Shot By Mobile Policeman

OHA- A 24 year old pregnant woman narrowly escaped death when she was shot by a policeman.


The pregnant woman Mrs. Eguonor Asebi while narrating her ordeal said she was traveling from Asaba, that between Oha and Orerokpe, a mobile Policeman flagged down the vehicle a Toyota Hiace bus in which she was traveling in, and as the driver was slowing down to park, she heard a gun shot which hit her in her thigh.


The victim Mrs. Eguonor Asebi who is a final year student of microbiology at the Delta State University, Abraka is 7(seven) months pregnant.


A medical officer at the Central Hospital Warri, Dr. Napoleon Erhabor, who handled the case confirmed that Mrs. Asebi was hit by a bullet on the lateral axis close to her thigh before she was rushed to the hospital.


The driver of the vehicle Mr. Emosiri Egbedobor expressed surprise saying that he did not flout traffic law, and that he stopped as he was ordered to do by the mobile police and wondered why the policeman would open fire and shoot at the vehicle.


The incident occurred at about 4:30pm.
