EDSG lambasts Oshiomhole over utterances

BENIN CITY - The Edo State Government has accused the former Nigeria Labour Congress President, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole of misrepresentation of facts when he accused the Osunbor administration of squandering of N50 billion received since assumption of office.

The Acting Edo State Commissioner for Information, Barrister Anthony Iyalekhue told news men in Lagos that Oshiomhole’s allegations were full of falsehood and capable of misleading the good people of Edo State.

Iyalekhue added that Oshiomhole was neophyte in governance and could not refer to Osunbor as living in borrowed robes when everybody knew his pedigree.

He added that Oshiomhole’s accusation that Osunbor had been running the finances of the state with his brother, was just the ranting of a drowning man, as Edo State was one of the first states to establish a due process office.

Iyalekhue stated that Oshiomhole did not have a programme and should stop using gutter language on decent people.

He stressed that as NLC president, he could not efficiently run the free 126 buses given to the congress by the Obasanjo’s administration, adding that the relics of the buses were deposited at Yaba, very close to the sinking NLC sub-secretariat.

He said that Oshiomhole’s desperation would take him nowhere as the Appeal Court would expose the errors of judgement of the tribunal that gave him victory and that was why he is panicking and jittering.

Iyalekhue said Edo people were enjoying the dividends of democracy with over 100 roads rehabilitated, hospitals refurbished, schools re-designed, workers salaries increased, subvention to tertiary institutions improved, provisions of utility cars for senior civil servants and the police, adding that all these cost money.

Iyalekhue said that Osunbor was very prudent with finances and could not fritter away monies of the state, explaining that the people were applauding the speed of development and provision of basic infrastructures like the reactivation of the Ojiranmi, Ikpoba Dams and rural electrification project in the hinterland.

The Commissioner added that Edo State had been very peaceful since Oshiomhole last visited about two months ago and wondered why his re-entry should be made to disturb public peace.
