IGARRA - The House Leader of Akoko Edo Local Government Legislative Assembly, Hon. Macaulay Afe, representing Ward 8 has been removed from office.
The impeachment of the House Leader was successfully carried out by a simple majority vote during the House sitting in Igarra yesterday.
The removal of Hon. Afe as the House Leader was sequel to a motion moved by the Deputy Legislative Leader, Hon. Maliki Fatai (Ward 02) and seconded by Hon. Ojo Omole (Ward 3)
In the motion, the former House Leader was accused among other things, inability to represent the House before the executive; high-handedness; the inability to pass accurate information from the House to the executive, and plot to impeach the Legislative Leader.
The impeached House Leader was also alleged to have accused the Executive Chairman of the Council of taking side with Akuku Community against Enwan Community during the communal clash that engulfed the area.
When the motion was put to vote, the initial result showed a tie which was later broken by a simple majority vote of five to four.
Meanwhile, a new House Leader, Hon. (Mrs.) Eunice Ojo representing Ward 10, has been elected by the councillors.
