NSC Endorses Glover For CAHB Presidency

LAGOS - Dr Lanre Glover will face five other contenstants, including the incumbent for the post of President of the Confederation of African Handball (CAHB).

His candidature got a boost when the National Sports Commission (NSC) endorsed his candidature.
Chinedu Ezeala-Ogundare, Secretary of the Handball Federation of Nigeria (HFN), told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos that Glover’s endorsement was conveyed to him by the NSC’s Director-General, Dr Amos Adamu.

Christophe Yapo, who is the incumbent from Cote d’Ivoire, Monsourou Aremu, the incumbent Secretary-General from Benin Republic, Yawovi Dogbo from Togo, Egypt’s El Sayed Alaa and Nicole Assele of Gabon are Glover’s opponents of the highly coverted CAHB post.

Ezeala-Ogundare told NAN that Lagos would host the Sept. 25 to Sept. 28 CAHB congress.
“The NSC has given its approval to the HFN to host the CAHB congress and backing for the Nigerian candidate.

“Glover has a good chance of winning the presidency of CAHB.

He is the current second CAHB Vice-President and most members of the confederation are not too keen to have the incumbent President remain in office after 18 years.

“This gives all the candidates an equal opportunity.

Glover, as the second Vice President has an advantage and is contact with CAHB delegates,’’ the HFN secretary said.

She said the International Handball Federation (IHF) President, Dr Hassan Moustafa, will be in Nigeria on Sept. 25 for the congress.
