AUCHI - In its bid to promote issues of accountability and transparency among its workforce, management of Power Holding Company of Nigeria, (PHCN), last week inaugurated Auchi Business District chapter of the Anti-corruption and Transparency unit for the zone.
Inaugurating the seven-man committee, headed by Mr. Nicholas O. Omoyibo, the Head, Human Resources and Administration Services, Benin distribution zone, Mr. Funso Dada, stated that the anti-graft unit was being inaugurated in the zone in line with the new policy directive of the company to stamp out corruption in the organisation.
He stated that the essence of the inauguration was to ensure that anti-corruption messages got to all the branches of PHCN nationwide.
He told the workers of the business unit that the management strongly believed that with the inauguration of the unit, certain actions and inactions that led to corruption among staff at that level, could be handled and reported to the zonal unit.
Mr. Dada, while admonishing members of the anti-corruption unit to be upright in their assigned duties, said that the public too should not be left-out.
Members of the public, he said should be encouraged to channel all their complaints and reports on corruption to the sub-unit for onward transmission to the zonal unit of the body.
He stressed that the sub-unit should also ensure that petitioners letters and reports are treated with utmost confidentiality.
Earlier in a welcome address, the Business Manager, Auchi Business District, Engr. A.O. Jinadu, said the company was witnessing another stage in the evolution of anti-corruption and transparency under the leadership of Mr. Dada, who, he said since assumption of duties on Benin Distribution zone had placed great emphasis on training, both within and outside the country.
