THE NFF boss has denied that he is under influence to hand the coach a new contract even though he failed to take the Super Eagles to Afcon 2015
Nigeria Football Federation president Amaju Pinnick has said that he is not under any undue pressure to re-appoint Stephen Keshi as the coach of the Super Eagles.
He said in as much as he and the other Board members were willing to re-appoint Keshi as coach, there is no pressure from outside.
“We changed our resolve to re-engage Keshi but there are issues to be tidied up in a contract between two parties. We have to look at so many issues like our budget, can we accommodate his demands and whether he can work with our technical study group,” said Pinnick.
“Contracts are not signed overnight, there are factors to be sorted out before we sign. We are talking with Keshi but I am not under pressure to employ Keshi, we just want to do the right things to work in harmony,” he said.
The NFF boss also revealed that there are plans to take advantage of Fifa windows by engaging the Super Eagles in matches while the home-based national team will be in camp in Abu Dhabi to play Cote d’ Ivoire and Mali just to keep them busy.
He regretted the fact that the Super Eagles will miss the Africa Cup of Nations in Equatorial Guinea next month.
This will also result in the loss of sponsorship and other marketing opportunities.
On the Adidas contract, Pinnick said the NFF is working round the clock to get them back stressing that the federation has been able to secure an appointment with Adidas and that hopefully things will be sorted out soon.
“In Adidas, we have a prized commodity we shall like to keep, so we are hopeful that we shall get a kit sponsorship with Adidas” Pinnick stated.
