February 2015 is gradually
turning into a month of great expectation for many politicians in the country seeking elective positions. One will be right to state that some politicians who have already crossed the hurdles of primaries in their respective political parties see February 2015 as a month to dread.
A month to dread or a period of political reckoning, as one of my friends told me few days ago. According to him: “February 2015 is an all important month for both sincere and dubious politicians as they will want to attract the electorate in the cleverest ways available to them”.
Yes, dubious politicians will want to exploit the porous electoral system to garner enough votes to defeat their political rivals, while sincere, focused, cerebral and people oriented politicians will be left with the option of working extra hard in order to overcome those that will want to constitute road blocks on their way to electoral victory.
Working extra had entails the ability to win the confidence of the voters on or before Election Day. Hon. Idada Osayuwame Larry, humble, dedicated and hard working, is one of such politicians whose track record and ability to carry the people along in his constituency will give him a clear advantage, as he guns for Edo State House of Assembly (Egor Constituency) under the platform of Allied Congress Party of Nigeria (ACPN)
Hon. Idada Osayuwame Larry, who holds a National Diploma in Public Administration, has a vision and mission of seeking challenging responsibilities with opportunity to career advancement towards developing man and the entire society. A two time councillorship aspirant in Egor Local Government Area, and former Personal Assistant to Secretary, Egor Local Government Council is a recipient of Edo Youths for Good Governance Achievers par-excellence Award in 2012.
There is no disputing the fact that the root of our woes as a nation is through the evil manipulation of the ballot box, where hard working, cerebral and competent patriots are rigged out in most cases. If we get it right as a nation by drastically sanitizing the electoral system, leadership failure as root of our under development will be a thing of the past.
Professor Attahiru Jega’s Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) should be given a free hand to handle the approaching February elections, so that honest, sincere and patriotic individuals like Hon. Idada Osayuwame Larry can use the electoral process as a scaffold to climb to electoral offices.
The INEC boss must continue to be proactive and ensure credible election at every point in time, most especially during the February elections. The people must move from apathy and take actual and active part in the affairs of the nation. A revisit of the Electoral Act with a positive view of inserting a clause ultimately that will digitalize out electoral system will go a long way in ensuring a blanket level playing field for all political parties fielding candidates for the 2015 general elections
