TOWARDS equipping confidential Secretaries in Edo State Public Service with modern management skills and tools that will enhance their effectiveness and efficiency, a one-day seminar has been organized by the office of the state Head of Service (HOS)
Speaking at the occasion, the Head of Service, Mr. Igbaekemen Jerry Obazele noted that the effectiveness and efficiency of any staff is a function of the degree of knowledge at his/her disposal, hence the state government determination at ensuring that staff at all levels are equipped with relevant skill.
Represented by the Director of Training and Management Services, the Head of Service said the choice of the firm Called-out Consultancy was in view of its practical experience in secretarial duties.
He commended the state government for giving priority to training and re training of staff and making it a cardinal programme of the administration.
The Head of Service commended the state government over the prompt payment of staff salary and allowances to deserving workers, while urging workers, on their part to discharge their duties with utmost loyalty.
He thanked workers (in the employment of the state government for the prevailing industrial peace in the state, while sueing for the sustenance.
Mr. Obazele used the occasion to remind staff of the need to conduct themselves in civil service manner, as any act of misbehavior could attract sanction.
Speaking earlier, the Managing Director of Called-out Consultancy who is collaborating with the office of the Head of Service Mrs. Elizabeth Abaye praised the Governor of Edo State Comrade Adams Aliyu Oshiomhole and the Head of Service Mr. Igbaekemen Jerry Obazele for deeming it fit to train the workers.
Mrs. Elizabeth Abaye emphasized that the best way to get maximum benefit from the workers is to regularly train them.
She reminded the secretarial staff that it is their duty to ensure that the office in well take care of and as such there is a level of decorum expected of them, urging t to carry out their duties diligently.
