A socio-cultural group, Etuno Youth Association (EYA) yesterday lauded political office holders from Akoko-Edo local government Area and particularly those from Igarra who it said have been involved in community based programmes which included empowerment of women, youths and indigent persons.
It therefore tasked candidates vying to represent the Etuno community in various positions to make youth education and empowerment their priorities and ensure that the people take priority in their plans and programmes if elected.
EYA in a statement signed by its President, Monday Orisaremi and the Chairman
Political and Contact Committee Dominic Odigo made available to journalists in
Benin City called on members of the association and the people of Igarra in Akoko-Edo local government council of Edo State to vote for credible candidates.
They lent their support to the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate into the
Akoko-Edo Edo constituency II, Emanuel Agbaje who it said would support the cause of Igarra community if elected.
The statement said the decision to support the APC candidate was reached after examining the other candidates from other parties.
“We have observed critically that we have not really had the robust and pragmatic representation in the state house of assembly since 1999, we believe our constituency posses men and women of strong character to represent us and that is why we are telling the APC candidate, Emmanuel Agbaje to continue what he has started even before being elected.
“We insist that this time our people must ensure they vote for the right candidates in all the other elections”
The group urged the people of the community to ensure they get their permanent voters card saying that was the instrument they have to vote in the right persons.”
