Being text of a speech by Major General Charles Airhisvbere when he formally dump PDP for APC EDO STATE IS ON THE THRESHOLD OF HISTORY
I believe today which is also an Easter Sunday, is the day the Lord has made and set aside for the people of Edo state to have sustained peace and political progress.
Since after my election of 2012, Edo state has experienced heightened political tension which has brought development of the state to a back stage. And I have watched from a safe distance and prayed for our people who were helpless in this circumstance.
That I was the Governorship candidate of the PDP in 2012 election and its aftermath is history.
I have decided to join the team of change that has come to the nation in the last election of the March 28th 2015, so that Edo State will continue to enjoy the benefits of the party at the centre. Any politician who means well for this State will ground their arms of hate and join the change train of the APC Government ably led by His Excellency Adams Aliyu Oshiomole.
I know for sure that with APC at the National and the State, there will be rapid development and all the campaign promises will be delivered to our dear State that is yarning for rapid development.
Our teeming unemployed youths who are the leaders of tomorrow are watching with kin interest. Let us bequeath an enviable, strong and peaceful State to them. These attributes can only be achieved when there is harmony through selfless efforts of those who govern them.
I further pledge my unalloyed loyalty to His Excellency Governor of Edo State and the Federal Republic of Nigeria as I make this historic move which I believe will bring Federal project like the GELEGELE SEA PORT, RAPID COMPLETION OF THE LOKOJA- BENIN DUALIZATION ROAD, other industrial developments and a re-newed quest for access to the sea from the APC led Federal Government. All these will create employments and safety for all asundary.
I thank all my supporters that have followed me here today to declare for the APC and those I couldn’t see before this move I will continue to consult with.
Once again I thank the Almighty God that has spared my life, my family for their support in prayers and the entire people of Edo State for believing in me. Kudos to all APC members for your resilience and victory at the last election. CONGRATULATIONS. We will do it again in the state April 11th 2015 election.
Long live the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Long live Edo State.
