BARCELONA president Josep Maria Bartomeu insists that the club are very happy with coach Luis Enrique and have no intention of replacing him at the end of the season.
Luis Enrique only took charge at Camp Nou last summer, penning a two-year deal with the Blaugrana, and has enjoyed an impressive debut campaign, with the Catalans currently top of La Liga, on the verge of qualifying for the semi-finals of the Champions League and through to the final of the Copa del Rey.
However, there have been persistent rumours that the 44-year-old’s position is far from secure and, as Goal reported earlier this week, outgoing Borussia Dortmund boss Jurgen Klopp has many admirers in Barcelona.
Bartomeu, though, has moved to quell the speculation surrounding Luis Enrique’s future, revealing that he is delighted with the job that the midfield ace is doing.
“There’s a lot of time to talk about his contract in the future,” the Barca supremo is quoted as saying by SPORT.
“Luis Enrique is concentrating on La Liga and on everything he needs to do in relation to the team.
“After the Champions League game against PSG in Paris on Wednesday, I saw how hard he worked on preparing for the game against Valencia [on Saturday].
“He has a contract until 2016 and we are very happy with him because Barca are one of the few clubs in the world that are going into the final stretch of the season still capable of winning three trophies.”
