EKPOMA-The Ambrose Alli University, (AAU) Ekpoma-Edo State is to graduate a total number of 8,167 students at its 19th convocation ceremony holding between April 17 and April 25, 2015
The university’s vice chancellor, Prof Cordilia Agbebaku yesterday (Monday) disclosed this at a press conference to herald the convocation ceremony in Ekpoma, Esan West Local Government Area of Edo State.
She said the figure comprises 46 certificate holders, 7,882 first degree and 239 higher degree graduands.
Agbebaku disclosed that founder of Christ Embassy, Pastor Chris Oyakilomen and   the Esogban of Benin Kingdom, Chief David Edebiri are among eminent Nigerians that would be conferred with honorary degrees at the ceremony.
She disclosed further that the convocation ceremony would feature the formal installation of the pro-chancellor and chairman, Governing Council of AAU, Prof. G. I. Akenzua, as well as the conferment of Professor Emeritus on the former vice-chancellor of the university, Prof. J. E. A. Osemeikhan.
The vice chancellor said that the sum of N500 million have been granted by the Edo State Government to boost infrastructure development of the institution.
“Many achievements have been recorded in the university as a result of the kind gestures of the Edo state Government under the leadership of Gov Adams Oshiomohle.
“The university has also received tremendous support from corporate organizations. All this support has engendered a conductive atmosphere for effective teaching and learning,’’ she said.
