BENIN CITY – The Chairman of the National Youth Council of Nigeria, Egor Chapter, Comrade Peter O. Aguebor said skill acquisition plays a key note in the development of youth and Nation building.
Comrade Peter Aguebor said this at the close of four days skill acquisition and entrepreneurial development training camp held at Blessing Foundation College, Benin City. He said the camp meeting was aimed at bringing all youths in Egor Local Government Area to promote basic trade skills and peaceful co-existence among voluntary organisations within Egor Local Government Area.
The Egor Youth Council Chairman also said that participants were exposed to first Aid teachings and seminars/workshops capable of promoting the capacities of the youths as far as development is concerned, were organised.
Comrade Peter Aguebor said the outcome of the four days training camp was encouraging as participants numbering 178, were able to learn how to make shoes, handfan, cosmetics, etc.
Speaking on the problem of  cultism among our youths, Comrade Peter Aguebor said the cultism has been a social menace to the society.
“Analysts have termed it in different ways. The truth is that cultism as it is being practiced today is actually a negative act. It has never assisted our society in a positive way.
The National Youth Council of Nigeria as the authoritative voice of the youth is preaching and also advocating the need for forwardness and continuity in  Nigeria. The issue of cultism is being condemned by the Youth Council of Nigeria and the killings and reprisal killings of cultists are being condemned to its entirety, the Egor Chapter Chairman said.
Comrade Peter encouraged youths to join voluntary organisations, saying that was the only way they could contribute their quota to the growth and development of the nation. He said voluntary organisations are ready to accept them.
