Kaduna (Kaduna State) – There was large turnout of businessmen at the 36th Kaduna International Trade Fair last Saturday.
Reports state that many families and students from various schools across the state were seen at the fair.
The trade fair, with the theme: “Promoting Domestic Production for National Sustainable Economic Development was expected to end on May 3.
Mr James Daniel, a shop owner, who deals in kitchen utensils at trade fair, said there was an improvement in sales and turnout of buyers last Saturday compared to previous days.
“This could be due to the fact that the trade fair is coming to an end and a lot of people want to use the last opportunity to shop and bring their kids to see the fair.
According to Daniel, the trade fair ground was empty last Friday. We are selling now. It is a great development.
He added that the low turnout witnessed at the beginning of the fair could be due to poor publicity and the change of the actual date the trade fair was to commence.
He advised the organisers to improve on the preparations in other to achieve better patronage for the 2016 fair.
Musa Ahmed, a civil servant, said from the look of things, this year’s trade fair was poorly organised.
Ahmed called on the incoming administration at all levels to invest heavily in macro-economy.
He said government should think of how to make the business environment more conducive for more people to come into the state and invest.
