FORBES has unveiled its 2015 list of hip-hop’s five wealthiest artists.
The list which was a big battle between Dr. Dre and Diddy enumerated five big wigs from the international entertainment scene.
Diddy
The super producer Dr. Dre smiled home with $500 million excluding taxes after selling off his Beats By Dre headphone line to Apple. This brought his net worth to an estimated amount of $700 million but this still did not make him top of the list as Diddy, according to Forbes, has an estimated net worth of $735 million.
Diddy has huge stakes in his TV network Revolt, clothing line Sean John, alkaline water brand Aquahydrate, and new tequila DeLeon, while Dre’s overall net worth is credited to the nine-figure payout he received from Apple’s acquisition of Beats.
Jay Z takes third place with an estimated net worth of $550 million, due to assets such as Roc Nation and his Armand De Brignac champagne brand.
50 Cent comes in fourth with $155 million, hoping to repeat the success of the Vitaminwater sale, via stakes in the SMS Audio headphones line, Effen Vodka and Frigo underwear.
Closing out the list is Birdman with $150 million, due to the success of his Cash Money Records empire. However, his overall wealth is down from $160 in 2014, due to claims that many of its big acts plan on leaving, most notably, Lil Wayne.
