This is a very serious chapter dealing with cults and occultism with their controlling spirits. Cults and occultisms are spreading like wild fire and many people are being ensnared. Isaiah 8:19 says: “When men tell you to consult mediums and spirits, who whisper and mutter, should not a people quire of their God? Why consult the dead on behalf of the living?” Acts 6:16 also says: “Once when we were going to the place of prayer, we were et by a slave girl who had a spirit by which she predicted the future. she earned a great deal of money for her owners by fortune telling”.
Spirits of fortune-telling and divination are majorly those of witchcraft (marine especially). Familiar spirits and spirits of necromancy belong to this group of evil spirits. Familiar spirits are what people erroneously call ancestral spirits.

The Bible recognizes the existence of these cults and occultisms that rely on esoteric powers from the heavenlies, stars, moon and the sun. These powers are not from God but from Satan. There are many passages in the Bible that tells us cults and occultism but we shall take a few: 1 Samuel 15:23 – “For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because thou hast rejected the word of the LORD, he hath also rejected thee from being king.”
Ezekiel 8:12-18 – “The said he unto me, Son of man, hast thou seen what the ancients of the house of Israel do in the dark, every man in the chambers of his imagery? For they say, The LORD seeth us not; the LORD hath forsaken the earth. He said also unto me, Turn thee yet again, and thou shalt see greater abominations that they do. Then he brought me to the door of the gate of the LORD’s house which was toward the north; and behold, there sat women weeping for Tammuz. The said he unto me, Hast thou seen this, son of man? Turn thee yet again, and thou shalt see greater abominations than these. And he brought me into the inner court of the LORD’s house, and, behold. At the door of the temple of the LORD, between the porch and the altar, were about five and twenty men, with their backs toward the temple of the LORD, and their faces towards the east; and they worshiped the sun toward the east. Then he said unto me, Hast thou seen this, 0 son of man? Is it a light thing to the house of Judah that they commit the abominations which they commit here? For they have filled the land with violence, and have returned to provoke me to anger; and, lo, they put the branch to their nose. Therefore will I also deal in fury; mine eye shall not spare neither will I have pity; and though they cry in mine ears with a loud voice, yet will I not hear them.
Nahum 3:1-4 – “Woe to the bloody city! It is all full of lies and robbery; the departeth not; The noise of a whip, and the noise of the rattling of the wheels, and of the pransing horses, and of the lumping chariots, The lifteth up both the bright sword and the glittering spear; and there is a multitude of slain, and a great number of carcases; and there end of their corpses; they stumble upon their corpses; Because multitude of the whoredoms of the well-favored harlot, the mistress of witchcrafts, that selleth nations through her whoredoms, and families through her witchcrafts.”
2 Kings 9:22 — “And it came to pass, when Joram saw Jehu, that he said, it peace, Jehu? And he answered, what peace, so long as the whoredoms of thy mother Jezebel and her witchcrafts are so many?”
Jeremiah 27:9-11 -“Therefore hearken not ye to your prophets, nor to diviners, nor to your dreamers, nor to your enchanters, nor to your yours, which speak unto you, saying, Ye shall not serve the king of Babylon: For they prophesy a lie unto you, to remove you far from your land and that I should drive you out and ye should perish. But the nations that bring their neck under the yoke of the king of Babylon, and I serve him those will I let remain still in their own land, saith the LORD; and they shall till it, and dwell therein.”
II Kings 17:17- “And they caused their sons and their daughters to pass the fire, and used divination and enchantments, and sold themselves to do evil in the sight of the LORD, to provoke him to anger.”
Deuteronomy 18:10-11 – “There shall not be found among you anyone that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch, charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard or a necromancer.”
In a book entitled “Cults and Occultism: The Scourge of a Nation”, authored me, many things were said on this subject. Note the following extract: Satan uses these operations of the dark kingdom to enslave the minds and souls of people. Unsuspecting people involved in occultism see it as fascinating, harmless, mysterious or even spiritual. Some see them as a veritablesource of knowledge, healing and metaphysical enlightenment. cultic activities and practices include the use of rituals, chants, spells, and mumbo jumbo to change the material world. Some of the main areas occultic bondage have developed over the years in the world. The table pages 3 & 4 shows these areas, many of which are in operation or existence in this country. Many people believe that if something is supernatural it is from God. This is far from the truth. It is ignorance that make people to think so, particularly ignorance of recognizing Satan’s counterfeit powers. Many do not know that white magic or white witchcraft is just as evil in the eyes of God as black magic or witchcraft. The dark powers involved in the practices or activities in the above Bibles are not from God but from Satan”.
From Ezekiel 8:12 you can see that witchcraft is also in the church, manipulating it and causing a lot of damage to the spiritual life of the church. Tell tale signs of witchcraft in the church are lack of interest in evangelism, dead payers and fellowship, immorality, disobedience to the word of God, lovelessness, to name a few. The church Usually have the air of a cemetry.
RHEMA PRAYER ATTACK: O Lord God Almighty Your word says in Jeremiah 10:1-10 “Hear ye the word which the LORD speaketh unto you, O house of Israel; Thus saith the LORD, learn not the way of the heathen, and be not dismayed at the signs of heaven; for the heathen are dismayed at them. For the customs of the people are vain: for one cutteth a tree out of the forest, the work of the hands of the workman, with the axe. They deck it with silver and with gold; they fasten it with nails and with hammers, that it move not. They are upright as the palm tree, but speak not; they must needs be borne, because they cannot go. Be not afraid of them; for they cannot do evil, neither also is it in them to do good. Forasmuch as there is none like unto thee, O LORD; thou art great, and thy name is great in might. Who would not fear thee, O King of nations? For to thee doth it appertain: forasmuch as among all in all wise men of the nations and in all their kingdoms, there is none like unto thee. But they are altogether brutish and foolish: the stock is a doctrine of vanities. Silver spread into plates is brought from Tarshsh, and gold from Uphaz, the work of the workman, and of the hands of the founder: blue and purple is their clothing: they are all the work of cunning men. But the LORD is the true God, he is the living God, and an verlasting king: at his wrath the earth shall tremble, and the nations shall not be able to abide his indignation.” You also said I have sinned and has fallen short of your glory but that I am redeemed through the redemption by Christ Jesus, Romans 3:22 -24. Father, I am calling for freedom from the sin of unbelief because Your word says whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved, Romans 10:13.
