The presiding judge, Alhaji Abubakar Sadiq, however, gave him an option to pay N5,000 fine.
The judge also said the convict must pay N9,000 to the nominal complainant.
Earlier, the prosecutor, Insp Simon Ibrahim, had told the court that the convict was arrested on April 19.
He said the matter was reported at the Utako Police Station, Abuja, on the same date by one Nura Yahaya of same address with the convict.
The prosecutor said that on that same date, the convict intentionally hit the complainant with a long stick when he finished performing ablution and was about to enter the Mosque to pray.

He added that the convict confessed to the crime and said he was just playing with him and did not know that the complainant would be badly injured.
The prosecutor said the offence contravened Section 245 of the Penal Code.
