Abuja – Chief of Defence Intelligence Rear Adm. Gabriel Okoi, has stressed the need for synergy among security and intelligence agencies to boost their capacity and maximize government investment in the security sector.
He made the remark in Abuja at the end of a three days training conference for Deputy Defence Advisers/Attaches and Librarians held at the Defence Intelligence Agency, Asokoro.
He said, “It is my belief that this year’s training conference will go down as a milestone achievement in our efforts to refocus ourselves on the challenges of re-engineering the defence attaché system.
Okoi expressed optimism that the decisions and resolutions reached at the end of the conference would assist the aspirations of the Federal Government especially in the international arena.
He said that with its theme, “Refocusing the Activities of Nigeria’s Defence Missions to meet Contemporary Security Challenges’’ together with lectures and interactive sessions, it was evident that the conference was insightful and educative.
He urged the participants to key into the agency’s mission, vision and core values, adding that it would help to mould them as ambassadors and patriotic stakeholders in the re-engineering process of the Defence Attaché
He assured the participants that the agency, in conjunction with Ministry of Defence, Defence Headquarters and the services headquarters would do everything within available resources to alleviate their challenges.
“On your part, I enjoin you to ensure prudent and judicious utilization of resources allocated to you in view of dwindling government resources,’’ he said.
