BENIN CITY – The Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN), Edo State branch has suspended its over six months old strike for one month.

Notice of suspension was contained in a press release signed by the JUSUN National Legal Adviser/National Assistant Secretary, and the State Chairman, Barrister P. Nnamani and Uyi Ogieriakhi, Edo State Chairman respectively.

The release which directed all JUSUN members to resume work tomorrow, Wednesday July 8, 2015 said the suspension of the strike was due to the intervention of various stakeholders.

According to the statement, “It is expected that this period of one month would afford this eminent persons and stakeholders the opportunity to conclude the modalities for the Edo State government to pay the seven months arrears of Edo State Judiciary workers.”

The release quoted the state governor, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole as directing that “the recurrent expenditure of the state judiciary shall be released to the Heads of Court; and with concrete assurances” that the governor will pay the salary arrears.

It also indicated that “no staff or worker of Edo State Judiciary who participated in the strike will be victimized.”
