EDO State  deputy governor Right Hon. (Dr.) Pius Egberanmwen Odubu has urged the muslim community in the state to pray for the success of president Muhammadu Buhari so that the genuine change clamoured for will become a reality.
Dr. Pius Odubu made the call on behalf of Comrade Adams Oshiomhole while addressing the muslim community led by Chief Imam of Benin Alhaji Fatai Enabulele who paid the governor Eid-Fitri visit in government house Benin City.
According to the deputy governor, prayers by Muslims and other Nigerians prevented the doomsday prediction that preceded the last general election in the country.
Dr. Pius Odubu said the onus is on Islamic leaders to continue to emphasize religious tolerance and peaceful co-existence among Nigerians.
He called on the people to be vigilant and resist any attempt by the Boko Haram sect to infiltrate their ranks and radicalize the youths to cause mayhem in the society and condemned the activities of the sect as contrary to the tenets of Islam.
The Chief Imam of Benin Mallam Abdul Fatai Enabulele dwell on a plethora of social ills in the country ranging from sodomy, rape, child molestation to alcohol, improper dressing, same – sex relationship.
Mallam Fattah Enabulele said the three arms of government, community leaders, religious, parents and security agencies have important roles to play in putting a stop to the decadence.
Mallam Enabulele who took a swipe at western influences in Nigeria, urged president Muhammadu Buhari to tread carefully in his relations with the western world.
