Abuja – Top-flight sides on Wednesday joined the 2015 Federation Cup casualties list as seven of the eight Round of 16 matches in the country were played.

Glo Premier League side Heartland Football Club of Owerri blost 2-3 to newcomers BJ Foundation FC of Edo at the Aper Aku Stadium in Makurdi.

BJ Foundation had earlier beaten Kurmi Market FC of Kano in the Round of 64 and then got the better of Spotlight FC of Katsina in the Round of 32.

Remo Stars of Sagamu, who bundled out holders Enyimba International FC of Aba in the Round of 32, came close to knocking out former champions Lobi Stars of Makurdi.

They however lost 3-5 on penalties after a 1-1 draw, in spite of scoring their goal 30 seconds into the match.

Plateau United of Jos, conquerors of Shooting Stars of Ibadan and Kano Pillars in earlier rounds, lost 0-1 to El-Kanemi Warriors of Maiduguri in Minna.

Akwa United FC of Uyo beat Prime FC of Osogbo 1-0 in Oleh.

FC IfeanyiUbah of Nnewi defeated FC Taraba of Jalingo 4-2 in Abuja, while Abia Warriors of Umuahia fell 1-2 to fellow Glo Premier League side Nasarawa United of Lafia in Oshogbo.

In Ado-Ekiti, Niger Tornadoes Feeders of Minna eliminated former FA multiple champions Dolphins FC of Port Harcourt 4-3 on penalties, after the 90 minutes ended 1-1.

The eighth match of the Round of 32 will come up on Thursday in Abuja between Kwara United FC of Ilorin and Rangers International FC of Enugu.

In the quarter–finals scheduled for Aug. 12 and Aug. 13, Lobi Stars will take on BJ Foundation, while FC IfeanyiUbah will confront Nasarawa United.

Akwa United will battle Niger Tornadoes Feeders, and El-Kanemi Warriors will await the winner of the Kwara United/Rangers match-up.
