BENIN CITY-The Benin zonal office of the National Lottery Regulatory Commission (NLRC), said it will continue to clamp down on illegal lottery promoters operating in the zone.

The Benin zonal coordinator of NLRC, Mrs. Maureen Akpata stated this when she led staff of the office on a sensitization road walk to mark the commission’s ten years anniversary in Benin City, yesterday.

She advised illegal lottery operators to regularize with the commission to avoid the ongoing war against unregistered lottery business.

“People think they can go scott-free by saying let us quickly do the draw, even after the draw we still clamp them down, we have a department in charge of that,

“If you noticed, people doing illegal promo have reduced considerably except those going undercover which definitely we will find out and deal with them accordingly”. Mrs Akpata stated.

The zonal coordinator disclosed that the Benin zonal office is in charge of Edo, Ekiti and Ondo states.

It will be recalled that the National Lottery Regulatory Commission (NLRC), was established through the National Lottery Act in 2005 to regulate the operations and lottery business, promote transparency and accountability in lottery.

The Commission is also established to protect the interests of players, stakeholders and the general public.
