UHOGUA – The Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Solomon Arase has donated drugs and Water-tanks to inmates of the Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camp in Uhogua community near Benin City.
The IG also assured the inmates of adequate security in and outside the community.
The Assistant Inspector-General (AIG) of Police in charge of medicals, Force headquarters, Abuja, Mrs. Grace Okudo who led the Edo State Commissioner of Police, Officer in charge, medical, Edo Police Command SP Magritte Ilegbinebo and other senior police officers in the state to the IDP camp yesterday, represented the IG.
The police boss visit came barely three weeks after the Edo State Government donated foodstuffs running into   several millions of Naira to the inmates.
Presenting the IGP drugs and four giant Water-tanks (GEEPE) to the management of the camp, AIG Grace Okudo stated that the visit to the inmates was to assess their medical needs with a view to meeting them.
The IG however, noted that the children were properly taken care of as there was no visible sign of malnutrition on any of them.
She also commended the clean environment of the camp just as she thanked the state government and the host community for their assistance.
The manager of the camp, Pastor Solomon Folorunsho who was visibly elated at the donations thanked the officers for the visit and items.
He stated that the drugs and Water-tanks would in no small measure address medical and water issues in the camp.
The traditional ruler in the community, HRH Frank Idumwonyi disclosed that the accommodating spirit of the Benins informed the presence of the camp.
He thanked the IGP and police authorities for the visit.
The camp inmates were full of thanks to the police force for remembering them in times of need.
The IDP camp is a refuge for victims of Boko Haram attacks in the North-Eastern part of Nigeria.
