BENIN CITY – A Socio-Cultural/Political Organization, the Esan Political Consultative, Forum (EPCF) has reaffirmed its commitment to stay fovused on the struggle towards the collective drive for political and economic emancipation of the people, especially the Esans.
President of the Forum, Hon. Tom Itua stated this during a chat with newsmen in Benin City.
Hon Itua said the forum which comprised of sons and daughters of Esan Land, both at home and in diaspora would only rally support for any positive minded candidate for the 2016 Edo State Governorship election that would help bring about the economic fortune of the people of Esan land, irrespective of political and ethnic background.
He asserted that democratization might seems to be a thing in vogue in Nigeria, adding that the reality of democracy would not play out in Esan land, unless a socio-cultural body rises in view of bridging the gap in the land.
The EPCF president noted that successive governments were faced with peculiar administrative challenges, adding that even those with avalent challenges still recorded appreciable achievements.
He acknowledged that the Edo State has faired well since the last seven years.
He said further that since development was a continuous process, there was need to search for a reliable individual that would drive home the developmental process in the state.
According to him, as part of a synergy towards searching for a credible candidate for the 2016 general election, the EPCF intends to set up a committee that would assess the various aspirants, with a view to electing a candidate that would develop human capital, build on the existing peace and unity in the land, such that development can thrive.
To achieve this, Hon. Itua disclosed the EPCF plans to embark on massive youth education against election violence as well as to ensure violence free election.
