BENIN CITY- Edo State Commissioner for Transport, Barrister Isimeme Iriogbe has given assurance to Courier Companies operating in the state that modalities would be put in place by government to grant concession to Courier Companies to operate motor bikes for service delivery and distributions.
He gave the assurance when he played host to Union of Courier/Companies in his office yesterday.
Besides giving them assurance, he said their motor bikes would have to be registered by the ministry, while the Companies would have to present their certificate of registration, present data staff base and should have branded uniforms and kits.
Barrister Isimeme stated that the Government has no intention to frustrate the business of any company disclosing that commercial  motorbikes were banned three years ago within Benin metropolis due to security reasons, especially Boko Haram menace.
Speaking earlier, Omokide Nuhu, DHL Benin Manager, said the aim of their visit was to appeal to government to grant courier companies Concession to operate with motorbikes for their Courier services.
He stated that other states like Lagos and Enugu have granted Courier Companies approval to use motorbikes for Courier Services.
