BENIN CITY –The Acting Executive Chairman of Edo State Internal  Revenue Service (EIRS), Barr. Emmanuel Usoh has stated that the one-stop-shop was formed for the purpose of ensuring smooth operations of the processes of vehicle registration/drivers license .Issuance.
He said it would also enable the EIRS extract the appropriate data from applicants of motor vehicle registration in terms of acquiring number plate renewal of vehicle particulars, as well as obtaining drivers license.
Barr. Usoh also stated, that the one-stop-shop enables the revenue agency to adequately  collate data, with a view to give back appropriate responses  when necessary.
The acting revenue boss who noted that about 85percent of fake drivers’ license were still in circulation, urged prospective applicants to exercise patience with the EIRS, as plans were on to expand the agency’s operations.
According to him the recent rush by applicants in the state was as a result of the “operation velvet” carried out by the EIRS, in collaboration with the Federal Road   Safety Commission (FRSC) and other security agencies which revealed the parade of fake drivers licence by motorists.
He said that despite the motor licencing centres located at strategic places across the state, the agency intends to open more centres in the interest of the people.
