Lagos – Bright Omokaro, a former Super Eagles defender has urged the senior national team to prepare well for the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

The Nigerian Observer reports that Nigeria has been drawn with Algeria, Cameroon and Zambia in Group B of the qualifiers expected to begin on Oct. 3, 2017.

Omokaro told Nigerian Observer that the nation’s late preparation for competitions had always denied it the opportunity to realise it potentiality.

“If we talk about football in Africa, Nigeria should be the best ever, but the problem is, our time of preparation is always wrong.

“There is no match that cannot be won.

“All depends on the cohesion between the players. Like I have rightly said, our time of preparation is very wrong.

“You watch other countries after a major competition, they go back to the round table, to know what really went wrong or why did they win or lose and they start rectifying issues.

“In Nigeria it’s not like that.’’

Omokaro, who was a member of the Green Eagles squad that won the silver medal at the Maroc ’88 Africa Cup of Nations, added that Nigeria could qualify for the World Cup if the right things were done
