Agenebode (Edo) – The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate for Edo, Mr Godwin Obaseki has promised to expand the School of Agriculture, Agenebode to include Aqua Sciences.
Obaseki, who made the promise on Saturday during the inauguration of the party’s local government campaign, said if voted into office on Sept. 10, his administration would take advantage of the presence of the River Niger in the area to reposition the institution.
“I am not worried about what to do for Agenebode people, especially with agriculture which is one of my priorities that will thrive in the locality as the area is blessed with arable land and water resources.
“I was driven by passion to serve and continue with the Edo project which the outgoing administration of Gov. Adams Oshiomhole had started.
“The phase one of the blue print development plans for the state had been done which includes infrastructure development, l and my running mate will commence the second phase.
“If voted into power, the Weppa farm, which had become moribund will be reopened before Jan. 2017,’’ he said.
The governorship candidate promised to support the traditional institutions to enable them to strengthen their various communities.
He said that the task ahead was enormous but his administration would only succeed with the prayers, blessings and goodwill from traditional rulers and the people of the state.
In his remarks, Gov. Adams Oshiomhole said that before now, Edo politics was about personalities “but now, it is about issues and policies’’.
He explained that his administration had enthroned transparency and accountability in governance through effective execution of projects.
Oshiomhole said that projects started by his administration were completed in record time, while the APC governorship candidate played a pivotal role in the economic advancement of the state.
He said that though his administration had not solved all the problems of the state, it had done a lot to reposition it.
The campaign team also visited the palace of the Okumagbe of Weppa Wanno, Dr George Egabor, who said that the present administration had brought meaning to governance in the state.
“Its God that gives position and if he decides in the favour of the APC candidate, nobody can change it,’’ Egabor said.
