Abuja – The Nigerian Army has said it ambushed fleeing Boko Haram insurgents in Pulka, Borno, and killed two of them.
This is contained in a statement signed by the Acting Director, Army Public Relations, Col. Sanni Usman, in Abuja on Saturday.
Usman said that the troops, which were on blocking positions, shot three terrorists and two killed while one escaped with gunshots.
He said that the troops also recovered one AK-47 rifle with registration number S 77411 and a General Purpose Machine Gun number FN 131908.
Others were one motorcycle, one bicycle, five Fabrique Nationale (FN) rifle magazines, one AK-47 rifle magazine loaded with 28 rounds of 7.62mm (Special) ammunition.
The others were 67 rounds of 7.62mm linked (NATO) ammunition, and Tecno brand of mobile telephone handset with NEXTTEL SIM card, as well as sacks of foodstuffs.
He said the troops had continued their routine operations of maintaining vigilance to prevent fleeing Boko Haram terrorists from sneaking out of Sambisa forest through the Pulka axis.
