Ubiaja (Edo) –  The APC governorship candidate in Edo, Mr Godwin Obaseki, has promised to establish a large scale mechanized rice farm in Ilushi, near Ubiaja, Esan South East Local Government Area of the state, if elected.
Obaseki made the promise at the palace of the Onogie of Ubiaza, Curtis Aidenoje, when he and his running mate Philip Shaibu, visited him during their campaign.
The candidate said he would reignite the thriving economy in the area, through the establishment of a large scale mechanized rice farm that would help boost the economy of the state.
Obaseki pledged to use his contact to attract investors into rice farming, adding that “my administration will also set up technical centres to repair the machines when they get bad.’’
He reassure the monarch that with his knowledge of the area and after years of neglect by successive governments, what the present APC administration had done was only a scratch on the surface.
He promised to construct more roads and establish schools in the locality, noting that he was familiar with the challenges of the area.
The monarch, who presented a white chalk to the candidate and his running mate, gave them his blessing.
The Onojie requested that more schools and roads be constructed in his domain.
Similarly at Uromi in Esan North East Local Government Area, the APC candidate said his administration would establish poultry farms and strengthen the existing micro finance institution in the locality.
The campaign later visited the palace of the Ojuromi of Uromi, Anslem Aidenoje 11, where the monarch assured the candidate that his prayers and good wishes were always with him.
