Secretary of the Community Youth Chairmen in Ikpoba Okha Local Government Area, Mr Osaro Eboigbe who spoke on behalf of the hundreds of youths said, “it is obvious even to the blind that the Comrade Governor has done well for the good of the people of the state. We say, well done, Mr Governor.
“Today is a great day, the reason being that we the Community Youth Chairmen G.25 are officially declaring and adopting the person of Mr Godwin Obaseki and Comrade Philip Shaibu for Edo governorship race come September 28, 2016. We indeed declare our support for this project 2016. I am congratulating Mr Godwin Obaseki in advance as the next Governor of Edo State.”
Similarly, the President of the Association of Community Chairmen in Egor Local Government Area, Prince Uyi  Amegor said, “We the association of Community Chairmen’s Forum in Egor Local Government Area, hereby, with the development strides you have done so far, endorse Mr Godwin Enogheghase  Obaseki as the governor of Edo State. The Association of Community Chairmen, Egor consists of twenty-four communities in the local government. We are here appealing to you, sir, Mr Godwin Obaseki, when you assume office in Osadebe Avenue, you should continue from where his Excellency, the Comrade Governor stops. I will rest my case here because we are waiting for the celebration day, come 28th September 2016.”
Responding, Governor Adams Oshiomhole said, “By the special grace of God, using you as the instruments, the man I am very pleased to be able to hand over my job to, Godwin Obaseki, is our next governor. So, when I say to Edo people, I have trust and absolute confidence that Godwin Nogheghase Obaseki will do better than myself, I say so with every sense of responsibility because there are two qualities you need to succeed as a governor. The first is the honesty of purpose. Do you believe in the people? Are you troubled by the weaknesses we see in our environment? Do you have a passion for your state or are you just interested in your personal welfare?
“Godwin has passion. He is convinced that Edo will be a leading state in Nigeria. That is what formed the basis of my partnership with him. So, you cannot be in better hands.”
He appealed to them, “Having declared your support for Godwin Obaseki for which I am very appreciative, you need to go beyond that and tell your friends, wherever people gather, tell them this story. You have a duty to explain to our people in various joints because you are all very mobile. So, I want to thank you, but remember it is not over until it is over. So, I urge you to go back to your various constituencies and like soldiers determined and committed to liberty to defending our collective political right not only to vote but to police the votes, and not only will you win your units, you will win your ward and you will win your local government. We will win the election.”
Also speaking, the APC governorship candidate, Mr Godwin Obaseki said, “My brothers from G-25 Ikpoba Okha and the Association of Community Chairmen of Egor, I want to thank all of you most sincerely for endorsing me as your sole candidate in the election coming up next week.
“I have no doubt that given the calibre of people here, by this time next week, you will be manning your units to ensure that you deliver for me. And I want to use this opportunity to assure you that if you deliver for me, you will not regret it because I have been part of the Oshiomhole administration from day one. So, what I will be doing is consolidating on the achievements of the Comrade Governor. I have to continue with infrastructural development.”
He added, “So, the only thing I will ask of you is that as you have come to endorse me, you must really support me. We have a lot to do. We have to provide skills for all of you because without skills if we bring companies, they will not employ us. So, my emphasis between this year and the end of next year is to register all of you because I want to know how many you are. So, the first thing we will do is to register as many of you as possible so that we know the size of the problem and you will tell us what you want to do and we will start the training straight away.”
