Lagos - Leading global mobile operator, Zain has announced the commencement of commercial service in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the expansion of its innovative world’s first borderless network or One Network.
Zain which operates in 22 countries across the Middle East and Africa announced that it would start offering commercial service to customers using its state-of-the-art network.
With the launch of its Saudi Arabia network, the Kingdom has now joined Zain’s globally acclaimed ground-breaking’‘One Network’, a borderless mobile service offering with access to favourable rates, convenience and freedom from high roaming charges for cross-border communications and available to over 45 million Zain customers in 16 countries.
According to Zain Group CEO Dr. Saad Al Barrak, the company is launching the service with a coverage area of 95 percent of the Kingdom’s population. Its state-of-the-art mobile network will initially cover 53 percent of the population in 36 major cities and 14 highways spanning over 4,000 kilometres.

Dr. Al Barrak also highlighted the role One Network will play in attracting new customers to the new network. “We believe that being connected to such a valuable service will be one of many factors that will attract Saudi customers to Zain,” he declared.
“The attractiveness of and continual expansion of the ‘One Network’ will play a key role in Zain’attaining its year 2011 targets of attaining 150 million customers and being a top-ten global mobile operator”
