WRPC Explains Scarcity Of Kerosine In Edo

WARRI -The disruption of the evacuation of refined products from the Warri refinery to the Edo axis has been attribute to vandalized pipelines on the Benin axis.


The Managing Director of the Warri Refining and Petrochemical Company (WRPC), Engr. Andrew Yakubu disclosed this while addressing journalists in Warri.


He said the plant has achieved its 100 per cent installed production capacity, and decried the vandalism of the pipe-lines between Warri Refinery and the Benin Depot.


According to him, the 100 percent production capacity was achieved through local content against all odds, revealing that at the last counting, no fewer than 100 points of Depot had been vandalized.
He however said that WRPC is faced with evacuation problem, which impedes the rolling out of its petroleum products to the Nigerian market and assured that plans were underway towards curbing the problem of scarcity of petroleum products


The plant which was successfully re-commissioned by the NNPC Group Managing Director, Engr. Abubakar Yar’Adua recently, according to him was restored back to life within two months of his administration.


Engr. Yakubu noted that the plan, which finally came back on stream in January this year, after the successful completion of repair works on the vandalised pipe-lines and other maintenance activities had so far produced 11.3792 orbit meters of premium motor spirit (pms) 98.323 cubic meters of dual purpose kerosene 171.994 cubic meters of automotive gas oil (AGO) as well as liquefied petroleum gas, cooking gas 157, 056 cubic meters of fuel oil.


He noted that just as the process plant continues to produce to its highest capacity, operational activities were on high gear to get the petrochemical plant to commence operations.


The production of Polypropylene and carbon black which has resumed fully from the petrochemical plant would impact positively on the nations economy, as plastic manufacturers and other users of out petrochemical products would have enough supply of feedstock for use.
