Militants release abducted Israeli

PORT HARCOURT - An Israeli businessman, Mr. Ehud Arny, abducted last week by unknown gunmen, was freed in the early hours of yesterday.

Ehud Arny, the Project Manager of Gilomore Construction Company, was abducted from his house along Sani Abacha Road, Port Harcourt on August 26.

Lt.-Col. Sagir Musa, spokesman for the Joint Military Task Force in Rivers State, disclosed this to newsmen yesterday in Port Harcourt.

He said that Ehud was released at 1.45 a.m. and dropped in his house. “He looked healthy after his release. To the best of our knowledge, no ransom was paid before he was released,’’ Musa said.

He said that the Joint Military Task Force was against the payment of any ransom to secure the release of anybody in captivity. Musa assured the public of the determination of the task force to protect lives and property, in accordance with the government’s aim for setting up the body.
