LG To Spend N537.5m On Projects

 

Idanre (Ondo State) - The Idanre Local Government Area of Ondo State has set aside N537.5million to execute some projects between October and December.


The council Chairman Mr. Afolabi Adesoji, said this in Idanre recently while flagging-off the construction of a 15km township road.


Adesoji said the road project, which would cost N471million, was aimed at improving the road networks at Idanre, Alade and Atosin.


A cheque of N235million was given to the contractor constructing the road with a warning to complete the job on schedule.


According to Adesoji, 22 township roads were to be constructed in the three towns, out of which 19 roads were to be surface-dressed while three others would have asphalt overlay.


He said rural roads would be graded during the dry season to facilitate commercial activities between rural and urban dwellers.


Adesoji said that the council had placed an order for the purchase of D140H brand new grader at a cost of N61.9million.


The chairman also said the council had purchased a 100KVA generator that would serve as an alternative source of power to the council secretariat at a cost of N4.5million.
He said that the local government had completed the construction of a four-block of classrooms at Abalaka camp as part of efforts to improve the education sector in the area.


Adesoji also said that the state government had awarded contract for asphalt overlay of the 17-km Owena/Atosin road and it would be inaugurated this year.
