Auchi Poly Students Visit BNCL On Excursion

BENIN CITY- Students of Mass Communication Department, Auchi Polytechnic, Auchi, Edo State, on Tuesday paid an excursion visit to Bendel Newspapers Company Limited, publishers of The OBSERVER titles.


The students who were led by their lecturer, Pastor Ojo Lucky, were received by the Acting Editor, Barr, Solomon Imohiosen, at the corporate headquarters of BNCL in Benin City.


Welcoming the students, Barr. Imohiosen said the visit would afford them as budding journalists, to experience firsthand, the newspapers production processes.


The Editor disclosed that The NIGERIAN OBSERVER, which was founded on May 29, 1968 by the then Bendel State Government, remains one of Nigeria’s oldest newspapers, and have contributed immensely to the development of the nation.


He said it was the responsibility of The Nigerian observer to educate, inform and enlighten its readers through its editorial contents, adding that it has been doing this since it was founded.


The students were conducted around various departments and sections in BNCL including the newsroom, communication room, pre-press, proof reading section, and the printing section, where they were properly taught about journalism and the newspaper production processes.


Some of the students who spoke with The NIGERIAN OBSERVER, expressed delight on the visit because it had given them more knowledge about journalism which they are hoping to practise in future.
