BAUCHI -An Islamic Scholar Ustaz Tahir has called on Muslims to always follow the teachings of Prophet Muhammad especially during the month of Ramadan.
Tahir, who made the call during Ramadan preaching (Tafsir) at Baban Godi Mosque in Bauchi told Muslims that following the teachings (Sunnah) was a means of emulating his deeds which was an act enjoined by Allah.
He urged Muslims to use the fasting period to learn more about their religion, adding that fasting was more than just abstinence from drinking and eating but a total devotion to Allah.
“Fasting should be for the strengthening of the soul, renewal of one’s faith in Allah and reformation of the society,” Tahir said.
He said that apart from spiritual benefits a Muslim gained from fasting in the month of Ramadan, economic, social and political lessons were also learnt.
Tahir who noted that the month of Ramadan was full of abundance of blessings and favour, appealed for assistance for the needy.
Tahir appealed to Muslims to always listen to the interpretation of the Holy Qu’ran by Islamic scholars as this would help them to correct their mistakes.
