Newly wed couple released from abductors

AWKA - A man and woman, who were abducted immediately after their wedding at Nibo, a town in Awka South Local Government Area of Anambra, on Saturday, have been released.

Narrating their ordeal to journalists on Tuesday at Nibo, the groom, Mr. Michael Agowo, 36, a Lagos-based businessman, said that they were held for two days at a location in Ogbunike.

His Liberian bride, Angy, said that she was never frightened throughout their ordeal because she earlier had a premonition of incident through a dream.

“We just came back from our wedding reception and I wanted to present my wife to my people in my community.

“So, in the evening after the wedding ceremony, we just drove back to our house and I got a phone call which I had come outside to answer.

“As I was going round the house after answering the call, I saw somebody hiding with an AK 47 rifle, then, I started running,’’ Agowo said.

“When they threatened to shoot, I stopped and raised my hands in submission.

“They took me inside the house, searched the whole place, took everything they could.

They picked me and my woman, closed our eyes and took us somewhere.

“They demanded a ransom of N100 million. And they decided to release us yesterday,” he said.
