Oredo Councillors pay condolence visit to father of slain 34-yr-old man

BENIN CITY ––The twelve councilors representing the twelve political wards in Oredo Local Government Area, have paid a condolence visit to the family of the slain 34-year-old father of three, Ebenezer Aisien, who was allegedly shot by a Policeman at the NNPC Mega Station recently.

Leading the Oredo Councillors, the Leader of the Legislative Arm, Hon. Foster Iyangbe, noted that the councillors were still in shock at the dastardly act by an officer of the law, who was supposed to protect defenceless citizens.

Hon. Iyangbe maintained that the way young Ebenezer Aisien lost his life, leaving behind a wife and three little kids, had again underscored the urgent need for the Police to be properly repositioned and tutored in the social art of civilian crowd control.

The councillors expressed surprise that neither the Police nor the management of the NNPC Mega Station had visited the family of the deceased, and stressed that something should be done to maintain the up-keep of the bereaved family, especially the education of the little kids.

The Legislative Arm Leader assured the family of the support of Oredo Local Government Council, in whose domain the unfortunate incident occurred, and assured that after due consultation with the council’s executive arm, a package would be worked out for the deceased immediate family.

Hon. Iyangbe called on all concerned state authorities to ensure that justice is attained in this matter.
Thanking them on their visit, father of the slain Ebenezer Aisien, Pa. Aisien, a former Policeman and military personnel, said he was still in grief and shock, as he could not come to terms with the reality that his son, who was supposed to bury him was no more.

Pa Aisien appealed to government and other public spirited individuals and organizations to come to the aid of the family left behind by his slain son.
