By OLAPEJU OLUBI

LAGOS - Air passengers can now enjoy a non stop flight to Abdul Azzez International Airport, Jeddah Saudi Arabia, as Bellview Airlines commences flight schedule operation in Lagos and Jeddah route for Nigerians and Saudis at the same time.

Announcing the development, the Managing Director of Bellview Airlines, Mr. Kayode Odukoya said this was first and only direct flight between Lagos and destinations in the Saudi Kingdom, saying that before now, passengers have had to travel through third countries, especially through Dubai, to Jeddah.

He noted that the approval came after the carrier passed requirements for flights rights set by the authorities.

The enthusiasm with which passengers have greeted the new Bellview Jeddah service according to Odukoya had been attributed to travellers yearning to have a scheduled non stop flights from Nigeria’s airports to destinations in Saudi Arabia.

He reiterated that the new Bellview service, a pioneering initiative, would ensure that Saudi bound passengers travel with utmost convenience, saving time and cost through non stop flights.

While stressing the airline’s plans to add Abuja as second departure airport in future, Odukoya stated that the carrier’s experience inspired them to answer the need for more seats on the Lagos-Jeddah route.

The need according to him had always been there, stressing that “now that we have demonstrated that the time is right, we have plans to have flights departures from Abuja direct to Jeddah very soon.”

The Lagos – Jeddah service opens with three weekly flights with flight days on Monday, Thursday and Friday. While Jeddah – Lagos return flights are on Tuesday, Friday and Saturday.

His words, “The scheduled flight service is a marked improvement on our commitment to the peoples of both Nigeria and Saudi Arabia as the cultural exchanges between them grow through business and religious travel”.

The airline currently operates in 14 West and Central and South African cities; effectively making Lagos the hub of regional air travels in sub-Saharan Africa.
