Famous broadcaster Yinka Craig Passes On At 60

LAGOS - An icon of repute in the media world, Mr. Yinka Craig bid the world good bye yesterday as he passed on to eternity at the age of 60.


The son of the famous broadcaster with the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) , Dr Olamide Craig announced the death of his father which he said occurred at 6.00a.m having battled with the Cancer of the blood stream for several years..


Dr. Olamide in a statement he signed stated: “It is with a heavy heart, and joy at God’s perfect will that I announce the passing on to Glory of my father, teacher, mentor and friend, Mr. Olayinka Babasanya Craig. He went to be with the Lord at 6.00am this morning at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, United States of America”.


“He was a pioneer radio and television broadcaster, sports Journalist extraordinaire and a national icon. He is survived by his wife, Dr. Kehinde Craig, his sons, Mr. Olayinka Craig and Dr. Olamide Craig and his “one and only” Miss Temilola Craig,” the statement said.


Craig was the Pioneer producer of the popular News line on NTA alongside his colleague, Patrick Oke several years ago, AM Express, another popular programme on the same national television and others before he took ill.


Reacting to the news, The Lagos State Government described Craig’s death as a monumental loss to the nation and the Journalism profession where he was a shinning star.
