BENIN CITY - The Edo State Commissioner of Police, Chris Dega has been commended for his efforts at reducing the activities of criminals in the state.
The Omo N’Oba made the commendation when the members of the Police Community Relations (PCRC) led by its chairman, Benin Area Command, Rev. Dr. martins Evbuomwan JP and the new Assistant Commissioner of Police, Benin Area Command ACP Dennis Anyagafu paid him a courtesy visit at the palace on Tuesday.
He said the palace and the chief have been doing their own little bit to see that the rate of crime in the state is reduced but added that nobody knows where these criminals come from.
The Oba however urged the new ACP to feel free in coming to the palace when the need arises.
Earlier in an address, ACP Anyagafu said he was at the palace to formerly introduce himself to the Oba and to thank the Oba for his fatherly role and care for the men of Nigeria police in Edo State.
He further said they were here to serve the people of Edo state to see that criminal activities is reduced to its barest minimum.
He then appealed to the Oba to always ginger them by addressing the officers once in a while for them to know how far they were fairing and the area to improve on.
The PCRC chairman and ACP Anyagafu were accompanied to the Palace by Evang Dr. Mrs. Helen Odemwingie, Vice Chairman, PCRC Benin Area Command, CSP Aigbokhai A. Uadia, DPO Ugbekun, CSP Peter Abu DPO, Oba market, SP Joseph Omorowa, DPO New Benin, Mr. Sonny Aseki chairman PCRC Ikpoba Hill also former city editor of Nigerian Observer and Mr. Andrew Idugboe, welfare officer, PCRC amongst others.
