BENIN CITY – Chairman, Oredo Local Government Council, Hon. Mike-Nosa-Ehima, has offered all interested physically-challenged persons in the state free training at the Council’s Skill Acquisition Centres in Oredo Local Government Area.
Hon. Nosa-Ehima, who was guest of honour at the recent Rotary Club presentation of Wheel Chairs to some physically challenged persons in the state, reiterated the commitment of his administration to support the Rotary Club in all its activities geared toward alleviating the plight of the people.
The Oredo Council boss encouraged the physically-challenged persons to rise above self-pity and disabilities to take their destinies in their own hands by striving to fend for themselves.
Hon. Nosa-Ehima noted that with the comprehensive up-grading of the Oredo Skill Acquisition Centre at Sapele Road, Benin City, in collaboration with the Millennium Development Goal Project, the United Nations Development Programme and the National Directorate on Employment, the Skill Centre would soon open its doors for trainees to acquire skills in fashion-designing, hair-dressing, computer operations and repairs, among others.
The council boss, who noted that the physically-challenged persons got to their present situation, through no fault of theirs, urged them to believe in themselves, assuring that his administration would provide interest-free loans to them on graduation from the Skill Acquisition Centre to start businesses of their own, and also become employers of labour.
