IBADAN-Three illegal private hospitals operating in Oyo State has been sealed off .by the state government on Tuesday.
The state Health Commissioner, Dr. Isaac Owolabi said apart from seal off order handed down, all patients met receiving medical attention at the affected private hospitals were discharged and transfered to nearest state government-owned hospitals for better medical attention.
The Commissioner stated that the decision of the government was part of efforts to save the people of the state from quacks in the medical profession.
To actualise the decision, he disclosed that, a task Force on Private Medical Practice was set up recently by the state Ministry of
Health and that it had been carrying out its mandate to sanitise the health sector.
Owolabi revealed that the affected private hospitals are Okewusi Maternity Clinic at Oke-Amu in Ipapo, Mercyland Clinic and Maternity, Iseyin and Anu Oluwapo Hospital, also in Iseyin.
While maintaining that illegal medical centres still exist across the state, Owolabi disclosed that these three illegal private hospitals were discovered on the first day of the commencement of operation by members of the Task Force.
The Commissioner noted that the activities of the Task Force would go a long way in sanitising the medical profession and health care delivery services across the state.
He stressed that the administration of Governor Christopher Adebayo Alao-Akala would do all within her reach to tackle the menace of quackery in the the state, adding that the task force has been given the mandate to flush out all illegal practitioners.
