Operation Clean Up Edo launched in Auchi

AUCHI – The scope of “Operation Clean Up Edo State” introduced by the Osunbor-led administration to boost Cleanliness in the state, has been expanded beyond Benin City the state capital, with the formal launch of the campaign yesterday in Auchi, the administrative headquarters of Etsako West Local Government Area.


Speaking shortly before the flag-off of the campaign, the Special Adviser to Edo State Governor on Sanitation and Beautification, who is also the chairman of the taskforce on Operation Clean Up Edo State, Hon. Pat Adamu, stated that the programme was introduced by the state government to ensure that the inhabitants of the state imbibed the culture of keeping their surroundings clean, and live a healthy life.


The Special Adviser noted that the inauguration of the Auchi Chapter of the body marked another milestone in the quest to properly spread the campaign to every nooks and crannies of the state, stressing that the Osunbor administration was prepared to take Edo State to greater heights, in the area of good sanitation habits.


While thanking the Speaker of Edo State House of Assembly Rt. Hon. Zakawanu Garuba, for facilitating the introduction of Operation Clean Up Edo State in Auchi, Hon. Adamu, charged the new casual staff in Auchi, who are to be paid a monthly salary of N9,050 each, to take their job seriously as the agency would not condone indolence.


She further advised them to be alert when sweeping and carrying out other related activities, just as she enjoined them to always wear their “Reflective Garments” for easy identification among others.


Mrs. Adamu who is also the chairman of the Beautification Committee of the state, appealed to the authority of Etsako West Local Government Council, to be prepared to contribute its quota in order to ensure that Operation Clean Up Edo State succeeds in the locality, as expected.


On his part, the chairman of Etsako West Local Government Area, who was represented by the Vice Chairman of the Council, Hon. Jimoh Omogbai, commended the state governor for the initiative, and assured that the council was ready to play its expected role in the effort to beautify Auchi.
